How to fix your cargo insurance for a good cargo insurance quote
Google News: A recent survey has shown that most cargo insurance companies are offering very low premiums to passengers, even though cargo insurance is generally one of the most important elements in protecting the cargo from accidents.
But the latest survey from Transport Insurers International shows that if you are looking to find the cheapest cargo insurance quotes, there is a good chance you are going to be paying more than you think.

“There’s a big gap between the average premium and the actual cost,” said Matt Taylor, senior analyst at Transport Insurus.
“It is very much worth it to get the lowest possible rates, because it is one of these areas that really, really needs to be addressed.”
The study asked carriers to look at a set of categories of insured cargo, including: cargo on ships; cargo containers, and their size; and cargo transport by air.
The top two categories of insurance carriers were the United States and Japan.
The study also looked at the average premiums offered by carriers in each of those two countries.
“We found that a lot of companies offer very low rates,” Taylor said.

“So for instance, if you have a ship with an aircraft, that’s probably going to cost a lot more than if you had a cargo ship,” Taylor explained.
“But that’s not the case with a cargo carrier.”
The carriers also offer rates that are less than the lowest cost.
“If you’re a passenger who’s paying $100 for a $2,000 premium, then you’re probably not going to get that deal,” Taylor added.
“You’re going be paying $200 or $300.”
But, in fact, a lot cargo insurance rates are much higher than those prices.
Taylor pointed out that some carriers have lower rates than others.
“For example, Japan has one of their lowest rates in the world, at $1.4 million,” he noted.
“In the US that’s $3.2 million.”
But for other carriers, like United Airlines, United, Delta, and Alaska Airlines, the lowest rate is almost $3 million.
“They have a very aggressive price structure, and if you look at that quote, that doesn’t look very good,” Taylor noted.
He added that it’s possible that the carriers offer very high rates because they are selling a very specific type of insurance that can help you pay for cargo protection.
“Many carriers don’t offer a broad-based, comprehensive coverage,” Taylor continued.
“That may be a reason why some carriers are offering lower rates for specific cargo.”
