The U.S. Postal Service is seeking a new freight broker to replace its former vice president of operations, a position that pays $70,000 to $100,000 annually.
In its letter to the FedEx Board, the USPS said that it had been searching for a “strong and versatile individual” for a year.
“I have seen many potential candidates and am very excited to have found the right person to join our team,” USPS said.
“This position will be an opportunity to strengthen our organization’s ability to provide timely, competitive and efficient delivery service to our customers.”
“The Postal Service’s ability and leadership will help us deliver the best possible value to our members,” USPS added.
“We’re honored to be able to continue serving our customers with the speed and reliability we’ve enjoyed for more than 50 years.”
According to the USPS, FedEx has lost 5,000 jobs since the end of the financial crisis in 2008.
The Postal Services lost an estimated 3.9 million jobs in 2016, and 1.3 million jobs since then, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
