Port Melbourne’s Port has the cheapest rates for new and existing car owners
A new car on the harbourfront in Melbourne’s west has become a bit of a celebrity, as more and more motorists flock to its location for the first time in decades.
The Port Melbourne-based Port Adelaide has a new hatchback, the Port Adelaide Plus, priced at $2.4 million and comes with a $1,200 finance charge.
Port Adelaide said the car was built by the firm Caddy-Hawk in Melbourne and was delivered on December 19, 2019.
It’s a brand new model.
“Its very easy to drive, very comfortable to drive and its got a lot of tech that will help you navigate the city,” Port Adelaide chief executive officer Chris Hillman said.
Mr Hillman has been a long-time advocate of more affordable cars, particularly hatchbacks. “
It’s got an aerodynamic body so you can really do that extra bit of body work and it has a lot more than just a few more horsepower.”
Mr Hillman has been a long-time advocate of more affordable cars, particularly hatchbacks.
“The problem with cars is you’re trying to be able to pay for them, you want them to be a great car but the fact is you need the cash to do that,” he said.
Mr Hillman told the ABC the new car was a welcome addition to Port Adelaide’s lineup, which was already heavily geared towards hatchbacks with some high-end models priced at up to $2 million.
“If you look at the list, the one that’s in the best position is the $1 million hatch,” he told 7.30.
“The fact that we have a $2,000 finance charge is an excellent step in the right direction.”
He said the Port Melbourne Plus was available to buy as early as January 2019 and would be available to lease starting in April 2019.
In recent years, the cost of buying a new, low-volume car has dropped, as interest in the car has soared.
The average price of a new Hyundai or Mitsubishi has fallen by about 30 per cent in the past decade.
But the Port’s latest car is not a new model, as it has been around since 2019.
The company said the extra cost was due to the cost associated with its “new” model.
The Port’s new model is a four-door hatchback with a maximum power output of 210hp.
It is also available with a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is currently not offered on the car.
The car has a top speed of 220km/h and a range of around 200km.
Port Adelaide said it would be providing a “road test” of the new hatch, which will begin later this month.
